A word from Cave de France: I must confess... as a wine merchant for many years, I was unaware of the existence of this small vineyard in Capbreton until recently! I didn't know that these Landes vineyards, whipped by the Atlantic wind, were destined for other nectars than the great Armagnacs!
Les Pieds dans le Sable, both white and red, simply blew me away.
The winemakers explain the presence of two distinct soils that make the originality of the vineyard; the "sables fauves" (tawny sands) to the East and the ocean sands to the West. The combination of the two creates fertile ground for this unexpected vineyard.
This cuvée is supple and well-rounded. Aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, and blackcurrants dominate. Light in alcohol (12.5°), this lovely ruby-colored wine will accompany a wide range of dishes, including, of course, dishes from the Southwest, as well as platters of fine charcuterie, soft cheeses, and white meats in sauce.
