Cave de France's note: The Drappier house has a fascinating and unique history with General Charles de Gaulle. This connection dates back to the 1960s, when De Gaulle, retired from political life, resided in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, near the Drappier house, in the Aube region.
The General used to choose local products for his meals and private events.
Impressed by the quality of this champagne, De Gaulle adopted it for his official and family receptions. Drappier champagne was served at many events he hosted at La Boisserie. He seemed to particularly appreciate the style of Drappier champagne, which perfectly reflected his taste for simple, authentic, and well-made things.

In homage to this special relationship, the Drappier house created this cuvée named after him, the Cuvée Charles de Gaulle. This champagne, a nod to that era, is primarily made from Pinot Noir, a grape variety De Gaulle particularly favored. The bottle also features a sober and elegant label, in the image of the general.
The Drappier house has maintained this historical connection with General de Gaulle, a strong symbol of French heritage, and this continues to contribute to the brand's renown and prestige today.

Drappier House's note: In the sixties, when he was not at the Élysée Palace or on an official trip, General de Gaulle stayed at his property of La Boisserie in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, a few kilometers from Urville. It was there that he discovered Drappier Champagne and chose a cuvée rich in Pinot Noir (80%) which was reissued in his honor.
