Sangiovese
Italy - Felsina Castello di Farnetella
Cave de France's note: A typical Tuscan red wine from the Chianti appellation, Colli Senesi covers a sub-region of the famous hills of Siena. Made primarily from the Sangiovese grape, this lovely Italian wine may also contain a small percentage of other authorized red grape varieties, which adds nuances without masking the essential character of Sangiovese.
The color is intense ruby red, sometimes with garnet reflections depending on its age.
The nose reveals aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and plum, accompanied by subtle notes of violet, licorice, and sweet spices.
With age, aromas of leather, undergrowth, and hints of tobacco can also develop.
Full-bodied and structured, with present but supple tannins. The vivacity of Sangiovese brings a beautiful freshness and balances the alcohol, creating a persistent finish with fruity and spicy nuances.
This Chianti is ideal for accompanying traditional Tuscan dishes, such as grilled red meats, tomato-based dishes, pasta with ragu, and aged cheeses. It also gains complexity after a few years of aging, developing deeper notes.
