A word from Cave de France: Niepoort's Docil Vinho Verde is a delicate and refined white wine, born from the Loureiro grape variety grown on granitic soils typical of the Lima valley. Its pale colour, adorned with greenish reflections, suggests a light and promising atmosphere. The bouquet is redolent of fresh citrus and white flowers, while the palate, carried by a vibrant acidity, is distinguished by its purity, tonicity, and a persistent finish marked by minerality.
With a modest alcohol content (around 11–11.5%), this wine offers an airy and refreshing sensation, ideal as an aperitif, with seafood, or Asian-inspired cuisine. Fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures then aged on lees for several months, Docil embodies elegance and structure while maintaining formidable drinkability and great vivacity.
A few words about Niepoort: Founded in 1842 by a Dutch merchant, Niepoort has remained a family business for five to six generations. Well-known in the Port world, the house was long a merchant rather than an owner of its own vineyards, before taking a major turn in the 1980s. It was under the visionary leadership of Dirk Niepoort, who arrived in 1987, that the company acquired its first large properties such as Quinta de Nápoles and then Quinta do Carril in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro. Subsequently, it acquired a cellar dedicated to dry wines as well as a winery in Vale de Mendiz for its Port wines.
