A word from Cave de France: A beautiful representation of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation in Languedoc, traditionally aged with moderate extraction to preserve the fruit and elegance of the wine.
La Cuvée Les Ruches presents a purple robe with violet reflections and an expressive nose mingling ripe black fruits, garrigue, spices, and sometimes notes of licorice, while the palate is generally round, fleshy, and supple, supported by a beautiful aromatic intensity, present but integrated tannins, and a persistent finish that often evokes the freshness of the stony terroir from which it comes.
This dry and gourmet wine reflects the character of the stony and poor terroir of the Terrasses du Larzac, conducive to modest yields but great concentration, and pairs well with grilled meat dishes, lamb, or spicy cuisines, and can be cellared for a few years to gain complexity.
Mas des Quernes is a family and artisanal wine estate located in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, created from a meeting between enthusiasts, an oenologist and a winemaker, who took over plots exposed on poor and draining limestone screes in 2009, favorable to a rich and typical expression of Languedoc. Today the estate spans over 20 hectares managed with organic farming practices, where viticulture is designed to respect the terroir and promote optimal grape ripening, then carefully processed in thermo-regulated stainless steel or concrete vats and sometimes aged in barrels for certain cuvées, to produce wines with varied profiles but true to their origin. This attention to winemaking and the expression of the place is reflected in a range of red, white, and more specific cuvées that seek to combine aromatic intensity, freshness, and balance, reflecting the singular identity of the Larzac and the estate's work philosophy.
