Vintage 2022
100% Carmenere
Chile - Central Valley
A word from Cave de France: Let's remember that Carmenere is a grape variety of Bordeaux origin, resulting from the marriage between Cabernet Franc and Gros Cabernet, almost extinct in France after phylloxera. It can be said that Carmenere has found a second life in Chile, where it thrives in the dry and sunny climate.
Tarapacá is produced in the Maipo Valley, a wine region renowned for its red wines, particularly the Carmenere grape, often considered Chile's emblem.
The color is deep red with purplish reflections, with a beautiful intensity.
Very aromatic nose, it reveals aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and black cherry, with spicy notes of black pepper, paprika and sometimes hints of dark chocolate, tobacco and sweet pepper.
The palate is well-structured, with supple tannins and moderate acidity, typical of Chilean Carmenere.
The texture is velvety and the same fruity and spicy notes are found on the palate. The finish is persistent with earthy and slightly woody nuances if the wine has been aged in oak barrels.
Tarapacá Carmenere is perfect to accompany flavorful dishes such as grilled red meats, mushroom-based dishes, Tex-Mex dishes and even grilled vegetables. It also pairs well with aged cheeses and spicy dishes, thanks to its balanced fruity-spicy profile.
