Languedoc red 75cl
70cl Syrah, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Grenache
Château de Saint-Preignan Cuvée Louise 2024
A note from Cave de France: Cuvée Louise is a lovely discovery. A delicate and nuanced expression, an authentic reflection of the Languedoc. It blends Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre, typical Mediterranean grape varieties, grown on sandy-silt soil. The alcohol content is around 14%, a sign of affirmed maturity.
On the nose, it reveals dark and rich aromas: ripe fruits like blackberry and blackcurrant, with touches of licorice, cold soot, and sometimes redcurrant. There's also a hint of sweet spice, a little vanilla linked to the aging process. These aromas unfold on an expressive aromatic background, but without excess.
On the palate, the texture is dense, opulent, but with a certain elegance: the tannins are present but well-integrated, the body is generous. It has a beautiful length, accompanied by moderate freshness that balances the power. The barrel aging, used partly depending on the vintage, brings subtle woody notes without masking the fruit.
In terms of food pairings, Cuvée Louise goes well with grilled or sauced red meats, charcuterie, or slightly spicy Mediterranean dishes. It can also be served as an aperitif wine if slightly chilled.
