Saint Emilion Grand Cru
Vintage 2022
HVE3
A note from Cave de France: A particularly refined version of this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, created in the early 2000s by the Rivière family, with the support of oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt, with the aim of revealing the most accomplished expression of the terroir and the old vines of the estate.
It is produced on a plot of approximately 4 hectares and is based on the same principles of sustainable viticulture and manual harvesting as the rest of the estate, while targeting the ripest and highest quality grapes. After rigorous sorting, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, then the wine is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels, which gives it a more assertive structure and a more complex aromatic richness.
This cuvée is distinguished by an intense aromatic profile where ripe fruits, spices and elegant woody notes intertwine, well-integrated tannins and a beautiful harmony that make it a wine that is at once fruity, balanced and deep, capable of aging well in the cellar. The different vintages are regularly well-rated by the specialized press, reflecting a qualitative consistency that makes l'Excellence a reference among the more "high-end" wines produced at Clos des Menuts, expressive of the silky and gourmet character of Saint-Émilion.
The estate, run by the Rivière family in the heart of the village of Saint-Émilion, relies on sustainable viticulture and careful winemaking with aging in oak barrels, seeking to combine local tradition and the subtle expression of the clay-limestone terroir typical of the appellation.
