Red wine 75cl
Cru de Beaujolais
100% Gamay
Jean-Marc Lafont Domaine de Bel Air 2023
A note from the winemaker: Made from 100% Gamay grapes, emblematic of the Beaujolais Crus, this Saint-Amour reveals a magnificent, typical ruby color, an expressive nose blending aromas of red fruits such as raspberry or cherry, sometimes floral notes (peony) and a subtle minerality, reflecting the granitic terroir.
On the palate, it offers a beautiful freshness and lightness, with a fruity character, a supple, sometimes slightly spicy structure, which makes it pleasant when young but with enough body to accompany dishes or last a few years.
It is an elegant and gourmet wine, which pairs particularly well with poultry, white meats, fine charcuterie or cheeses.
It also has good aging potential of over 10 years.
Domaine de Bel-Air has existed since the mid-19th century, perched on the Bel-Air hill in Lantignié, near the ancient historical capital of Beaujolais.
Since 1986, Jean-Marc Lafont - accompanied by his wife Annick - has taken over the reins of the family estate, paying particular attention to the quality of the grapes and respect for the terroir.
The estate works with varied terroirs (blue granites, pink granites, schists, manganese, ancient soils...) spread over several crus - Morgon, Brouilly, Fleurie, Moulin-à-Vent, Beaujolais-Villages... which allows it to produce a wide range of wines, each reflecting its plot and its soil.
The vines are often on steep slopes - the work is mostly manual - and the approach tends towards environmentally friendly agriculture: since the 1990s, the estate has practiced "sustainable viticulture," and some plots are even being considered for conversion to biodynamic practices.
Thanks to this combination of family know-how, diversified terroirs, demanding quality, and respect for the environment, the wines of Domaine de Bel-Air - fruity, expressive, often structured - have become among the most respected in Beaujolais.
