French Whisky - 70cl 40° (with case)
Single Malt
Hepp Distillery
A word from Cave de France: An audacious and unique version of Alsatian single malt, introducing a peated character that will appeal to lovers of smoky whiskies, quite rare for a French whisky.
Unlike non-peated versions, the Peated Expression uses malted barley that has been dried with peat smoke. This method, inspired by Scottish Islay whiskies, adds smoky and earthy aromas, thus bringing a fuller-bodied and deeper dimension to the whisky.
OUISKI Peated Expression is distilled with the artisanal expertise unique to the Hepp distillery, using copper stills and a slow distillation method to preserve the peated aromas. It is then aged in carefully selected oak casks, which add woody and vanilla notes that perfectly balance the peat smoke.
On the nose, you can detect notes of gentle smoke, with earthy and mineral touches, balanced by aromas of malted cereals and sometimes hints of spice.
On the palate, the Peated Expression reveals more intense peat flavors, accompanied by notes of burnt wood, vanilla, and sometimes even caramel or liquorice.
The overall impression is harmonious, with a mellow texture that tempers the smoky side.
The finish is long, with a smoky persistence that blends into slightly sweet and spicy flavors.
A few words about the Distillery: Hepp is renowned for its expertise in producing high-quality spirits, including brandies, liqueurs, and more recently, whiskies. Located in Alsace, a region of France rich in agricultural and winemaking traditions, the distillery benefits from a particularly favorable terroir for growing cereals and fruits.
Rooted in a family tradition spanning several generations, Hepp was founded at the beginning of the 20th century, and initially specialized in the distillation of fruit brandies, which is typical of the region. Alsatian brandies, such as kirsch, mirabelle, or pear, allowed the distillery to make a name for itself as a producer of refined spirits.
In recent years, the Hepp distillery has expanded its expertise by venturing into whisky production, taking advantage of the growing popularity of artisanal French whisky. Their range of whiskies, including the famous OUISKI Single Malt, is inspired by traditional Scottish methods, while incorporating a distinct Alsatian touch.
