Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky - 70cl 43.3°
Limited edition - Last bottles
A word from the Importer: Mortlach 12 Year Old is a vibrant and bold single malt. Aged in Bourbon and Sherry casks, unpeated, it is distinguished by its incredible intensity, but also by its airy, light and lively character.
Possessing a rare complexity for a malt of this age, this reference has a very balanced aromatic profile with fruity and spicy aromas accompanied by fresh and floral notes. This whisky combines the structural power of a single malt with the refinement and complexity of the greatest blends.
For almost 200 years, Mortlach has been Scotland's best-kept whisky secret.
In 1896, Alexander Cowie, a doctor from Hong Kong, took over the distillery, originally founded in 1823 in Dufftown in Speyside. He used his boldness, his rich Asian culture and all his scientific know-how to invent a revolutionary production process: "The Way".
Two diametrically opposed fermentations are used at the Mortlach distillery: a very short fermentation (50h) which will reveal the lively character and cereal notes, then a very long fermentation (120h) which will bring mineral power, depth and intensity to the whisky.
Instead of a classic double distillation, the liquid is distilled 2.81 times. It is cut, re-cut, blended, distilled more than any other Scotch. This distillation extracts the essence of the raw material and brings a certain elegance, delicacy and subtlety to this Single Malt.
In a region known for its fruitier and rounder whiskies, Mortlach, nicknamed "The Beast of Dufftown", stands out from other Speyside single malts thanks to its intense and bold flavors, without peat.
