Bordeaux red - Haut-Médoc - 75cl
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
Vintage 2020
A word from Château Chasse-Spleen: The history and evolution of a vineyard, through inheritances, purchases, and land consolidation, can lead to several AOCs being associated within the same estate. As Chasse-Spleen originated before the concept of AOCs, some of the plots that comprised it are now under different appellations.
Today, we have about a dozen hectares under the Haut-Médoc AOC. The INAO recognizes the hierarchy of Médoc AOCs. This means that any wine produced in Haut-Médoc and in the communal appellations (Saint-Estèphe, Pauillac, Saint-Julien, Moulis, Margaux) is, above all, a Haut-Médoc – but the reverse is not true. Only plots produced exclusively in these delimited appellation areas can claim the communal AOC.
Given the success of L'Héritage de Chasse-Spleen, we are led, to satisfy markets and to meet our selection policy, to remind that certain Moulis plots can also and legally claim the Haut-Médoc appellation. Thus, on average, some 20 hectares of Haut-Médoc produce L'Héritage de Chasse-Spleen. Initially called Ermitage de Chasse-Spleen, this wine was, for reasons of homonymy with some other vineyards, renamed in 2000. Its birth occurred under the best auspices, inheriting all the care given to its glorious elder, and this new name seemed entirely appropriate.
A word from Cave de France: Full-bodied and balanced, with supple tannins and notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, and sour cherry, this Héritage de Chasse-Spleen is a delight. The excellence of the 2019 vintage should be highlighted. A very interesting quality-to-price ratio for a great Bordeaux wine.
