A word from Cave de France: Please excuse my impossible impartiality, as I am personally very attached to this Sarthois terroir, the most "northern vineyard of the Loire" (along with Orléanais), where I grew up. As a child, I heard Jasnières spoken of as a local pride, to be ranked among departmental glories such as the 24h du Mans, Rillettes, Loué Chickens, and even Mutuelles! At the time, however, some straight-laced people did not share this opinion, as they say, no one is a prophet in their own land... Yet since the 1970s, things have changed a lot, and Jasnières has regained the place that good King Henry IV once gave it: a high-quality wine, served on the finest tables, praised by gastronomic critics who see it as an authentic nectar, having not succumbed to the steamroller of standardization.
This "Jus de Terre" (juice of the earth) gives full meaning to the word "minerality". Its subtle acidity, its iodized touch, make it the perfect companion for seafood. Its terroir accents call for a well-made goat cheese, a fish in sauce, a pullet. A "juice" from the land of France, discreet but sincere, straightforward and authentic... like a Sarthois!
