Moulis en Médoc red - 75cl
Château Lagorce Bernadas
Vintage 2020
A word from Cave de France: A true gem in the Moulis en Médoc appellation, this Les Humbles cuvée is a marvel of structure and harmony.
The vineyard, approximately 2.3 hectares, is located on a gravelly hillock in the place called Lagorce, with soils made of Garonne gravel on the upper slopes and clay and silt further down.
The vines have been planted since 1986, with an average age of around 30 years.
Winemaking respects traditional methods, and aging lasts approximately 18 months to bring finesse and complexity. On the nose, this cuvée develops aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), often complemented by toasted woody and vanilla notes. On the palate, it combines a silky texture with well-worked tannins, a certain roundness, and an elegant finish where the oak is integrated but perceptible. Depending on the vintage, the wine can be enjoyed now or after a few years of aging, its characteristics making it suitable for evolution.
The Château is owned by Martine Vallette (née Bernardas) and Jean-Marie Vallette, founded in 1986, by planting the first vines on the gravelly hillock of Lagorce. Martine brings the name Bernadas, a family heritage, and the estate bears this double name to mark its local and family roots. The vineyard remains modest in size, allowing for careful and artisanal work. They obtained the "Cru Artisan" classification, a testament to the meticulous quality of their viticulture. The estate's commitment is felt through demanding practices in the vineyards and the cellar, aiming to express the terroir with precision while maintaining the balance between freshness, fruit, and maturity.
