A note from Cave de France: 1453 celebrates the Battle of Castillon (the village has since been named Castillon-la-Bataille), which ended the Hundred Years' War.
Legend has it that the English, commanded by John Talbot, drank excessively of the local wine on the eve of the battle. This may have contributed to the French victory the next day! This shows how symbolic this original cuvée is...
Our friend Hervé Largeteau, a winemaker near Castillon-la-Bataille, wanted to pay tribute to this page of history by creating a supple, balanced, finely oaked wine.
A true "author's wine," this 1453 will perfectly accompany red meats, game, hard cheeses, or, without malice, a good roast beef! ;-)
