A word from Cave de France: The true spirit of a Haut-Médoc, both accessible and very qualitative, a serious wine without being pretentious, combining Bordeaux tradition and contemporary elegance. Located on an old Médoc estate, Château Citran rests on thirty-year-old vines spread over a terroir blending gravel, sand and clay-limestone soils. The traditional grape varieties predominantly mix Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, sometimes complemented by Cabernet Franc (and in certain vintages, a hint of Petit-Verdot), which gives it this beautiful classic balance between tannic structure, fruitiness and freshness.
On tasting, Château Citran captivates with a deep color, heralding a wine of character. On the nose, aromas of red and black fruits - blackberry, cherry, blackcurrant - are enhanced by slightly spicy, vanilla or undergrowth notes.
On the palate, the attack is supple and straightforward, then the wine develops a beautiful, rather structured body, with present but well-integrated tannins. The overall impression remains harmonious, balanced between power and finesse, which makes Château Citran appealing in its youth, while offering good medium-term aging potential depending on the vintage.
