Located on an ancient Médoc estate, Château Citran boasts thirty-year-old vines spread over a terroir mixing gravel, sand, and clay-limestone soils. The traditional grape blend primarily combines Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, sometimes complemented by Cabernet Franc (and in some vintages, a hint of Petit-Verdot), which gives it this beautiful classic balance between tannic structure, fruitiness, and freshness.
When tasted, Château Citran captivates with its deep color, heralding a wine of character. On the nose, there are aromas of red and black fruits—blackberry, cherry, blackcurrant—enhanced by slightly spicy, vanilla, or forest floor notes.
On the palate, the attack is supple and direct, then the wine develops a beautiful, structured body with present but well-integrated tannins. The overall impression remains harmonious, balanced between power and finesse, making Château Citran appealing in its youth while offering good medium-term aging potential depending on the vintage.
