Bordeaux Saint-Émilion red - 75cl
Cabernet Franc, Merlot
1er Grand Cru Classé A
Château Ausone 1978

A word from Cave de France: One of Saint-Émilion's most prestigious wines, renowned for its deep, refined, and exceptionally elegant style. Made primarily from Cabernet Franc and Merlot, it stands out for a very pure expression of its limestone terroir, offering complex aromas of black fruits, violet, spices, and distinct mineral notes. On the palate, it combines power and precision with a vertical structure, very fine tannins, and remarkable freshness that give it great elegance and an exceptional length. It is a wine with great aging potential, capable of evolving for several decades, gaining in complexity and harmony.

Today, this 1978 presents with great finesse, offering evolved aromas of undergrowth, truffle, leather, tobacco, and candied black fruits, sometimes still with a floral touch characteristic of Cabernet Franc. On the palate, it favors delicacy over power, with melted tannins, beautiful freshness, and a structure that can still surprise with its hold despite its age. It is a wine that has reached full maturity, offering a very moving tasting experience.

The château is a historic and confidential estate of approximately 7 hectares, located on the heights of Saint-Émilion, with origins dating back to antiquity and the Latin poet Ausonius, from whom it takes its name. Remaining in the hands of a few families over the centuries, it has established itself as one of Bordeaux's most emblematic crus, long classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, before voluntarily withdrawing from the recent classification. Its small production and exceptional terroir make it an absolute benchmark today, combining tradition, precision, and extreme rigor.
