Champagne 75cl
Pinot Noir 80% Chardonnay 15%, Meunier 5%
A word from Cave de France: Drappier Carte d'Or is a "versatile" champagne, ideal as an aperitif, and also pairs well with dishes such as white meats, fish, or light fruit-based desserts.
Its color is often golden, reminiscent of its name "Carte d'Or", with fine and persistent bubbles.
The nose is expressive, dominated by aromas of stone fruits like peach and apricot, combined with notes of citrus, honey, and white flowers. On the palate, it is full-bodied, fruity, and slightly spicy, with good liveliness. Flavors of ripe fruits, baked apples, and a pleasantly mineral finish are present.
A bit of history: The Drappier house has a fascinating and unique history with General Charles de Gaulle. This link dates back to the 1960s when De Gaulle, retired from political life, resided in Colombey-les-Deux-Ăglises, near the Drappier house, in the Aube region.
The General used to choose local products for his meals and private events.
Impressed by the quality of this champagne, De Gaulle adopted it for his official and family receptions. Drappier champagne was served at many events he organized at La Boisserie. He seemed particularly to appreciate the style of Drappier champagne, which reflected his taste for simple, authentic, and well-made things.
Tribute with the "Charles de Gaulle" cuvée: In homage to this special relationship, the Drappier house created a cuvée named after him, the Cuvée Charles de Gaulle. This champagne, as a nod to that era, is mainly made from Pinot Noir, a grape variety particularly favored by De Gaulle. The bottle features a simple and elegant label, in the image of the general.
The Drappier house has maintained this historical connection with General de Gaulle, a strong symbol of French heritage, and this still contributes to the brand's renown and prestige today.
A word from Maison Drappier:Â With a very high proportion of Pinot Noir, one almost savors a Blanc de Noirs. A champagne of great aromatic richness, it opens with aromas of stone fruits like vineyard white peach. A spicy note announces a powerful and complex palate. A vinous champagne of great complexity with a characteristic touch of quince jelly.
Ideal as an aperitif. Pairs well with white meat, firm-fleshed fish, or Chaource cheese. Serve at 7°C.
Innovation award: Michel Drappier, the first "zero carbon" champagne. Michel Drappier is proud to fully offset the CO2 emissions of his house. GRAND PRIX LA RVF 2019. Michel Drappier produces the first "zero carbon" champagne (certified Ecoact).
