Bas-Armagnac - 70cl 40° (with case)
Château de Laubade
VSOP
A word from Cave de France: The V.S.O.P reveals an exceptional fruity balance, the result of a harmonious blend of the four emblematic grape varieties of the estate: Baco, Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard. This meticulous blending work gives this Bas Armagnac a rich aromatic complexity, marked by intense notes of ripe fruit, plum, and gourmet nuances of pastry.
On the palate, this Bas Armagnac is characterized by its delicacy and smooth texture. Subtle vanilla flavors mingle with hints of citrus, while its persistent and elegant finish pleasantly prolongs the tasting experience. This refined blend can be enjoyed as an aperitif, in a cocktail, or as a digestif, offering a full expression of its delicate aromas on every occasion.
Ideal for gastronomic pairings, the V.S.O.P pairs wonderfully with a fresh curd cheese slightly sweetened with honey, or with Gariguette strawberries sprinkled with cane sugar, followed by a light coffee to elegantly conclude the meal.
A little history...
The "Château de Laubade" House was founded in 1870 in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac region, in Gers, Gascony. Today, it is one of the most renowned and respected estates for Armagnac production. The château itself is a magnificent example of Gascon architecture surrounded by vineyards, with an estate spanning 105 hectares, exclusively dedicated to the cultivation of the grape varieties used to produce this traditional spirit.
For four generations, the house has been in the hands of the Lesgourgues family, who acquired the estate in 1974. The members of the Lesgourgues family have committed themselves to preserving traditions while modernizing certain aspects of production. Their approach is geared towards constant excellence, relying on ancient know-how but with a keen eye for developments and best practices in viticulture.
Maison Laubade also stands out for its artisanal production methods. For example, it uses Gascon oak barrels, renowned for their unique influence on the aging of brandies. In addition, it cultivates its own vines with emblematic local grape varieties such as Baco, Ugni Blanc, Colombard, and Folle Blanche, which ensures the quality and authenticity of its armagnacs. The estate also uses an Armagnac still for continuous distillation, a traditional technique of the region that helps develop the aromatic complexity of the brandies.
Another notable aspect is their commitment to sustainability: Château de Laubade is recognized for its environmentally friendly practices, such as the use of natural compost from vine residues to fertilize the soil.
Today, Château de Laubade is famous for its vintage armagnacs, which sometimes age for several decades in barrels before being bottled. This ability to preserve and vintage great armagnacs allows the house to offer unique and rare brandies. Laubade bottles are often prized by collectors and Armagnac enthusiasts worldwide.
